Subsea Integration Alliance, a non-incorporated tie-up between Subsea 7 and SLB’s OneSubsea has teamed up with US ocean energy systems developer C-Power to test the next generation of its autonomous offshore power system (AOPS). The joint industry project, cosponsored by the US Department of Energy, is aimed at exploring the use of converted energy from ocean waves as a lower-cost, lower-carbon power source for subsea energy applications. C-Power has developed an AOPS called SeaRAY that provides purpose-built power, energy storage, and real-time communications support, intending to advance the ocean economy toward a future of autonomous, connected, and resident technologies. The system is designed to support uncrewed offshore activities and equipment, including subsea vehicles, sensor packages, and operating equipment.
