A marine generator working is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. To give the answer to the question - How Electricity is Generated on Ships - the power is produced by using the ship's auxiliary engine which consists of a marine prime mover and alternator. The working of a marine alternator and its principle, and how an alternator works are explained in this video. A conductor coil (a copper coil tightly wound onto a metal core) is rotated rapidly between the poles of a horseshoe-type magnet. When the coil rotates, it cuts the magnetic field which lies between the two poles of the magnet, allowing the flow of electricity in the coil. A shaft generator can also be used to produce electricity on the ship when the main engine is working. ________________________ Stay connected with us! ► Subscribe to Marine Insight: http://bit.ly/2GUF1eM ► Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marineinsight/ ► Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/marineinsight ► Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/marine_insight/ ► DOWNLOAD eBOOKS FOR SEAFARERS: https://learn.marineinsight.com/
