Panama Canal - Water levels Publications Steamship Mutual Published: April 27, 2023 Contact author Download article pdf Panama Canal Authority issued an Advisory to Shipping No. A-18-2023 on 21st April 2023 to inform Shipowners who are planning to transit Panama Canal of the latest reduction in the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the expanded Panama Canal’s Neopanamax locks. Whilst the changing water levels are a seasonal occurrence it appears that this year is proving to be particularly challenging.  Members whose vessel are due to transit the Panama Canal are encouraged to monitor the latest Panama Canal Authority “Advisory to Shipping” and contact the Panama Canal Authority for any potential future restrictions to their vessel’s draft.
