During this session, several amendments were adopted, and the text of further amendments and circulars were approved. Key highlights include: Adopted the non-mandatory Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (MASS) Code, entering effect from 1 July 2026. An experience building phase will now begin and continued work will take place to develop a mandatory code with a target of entering force in 2032. Adopted amendment 43-26 of the IMDG Code with entry into force from 1 January 2028, along with possible early adoption from 1 January 2027.
