The German Administration BG Verkehr informs stakeholders on the publication of the IMO Guidelines on fatigue mitigation and management. Companies are strongly advised to take greater account of the issue of fatigue in the management of ship operations and in the implementation and improvement of safety management systems. In this regard, companies should ensure that the risks of fatigue are properly assessed, appropriate safeguards are established and training and awareness measures are implemented either at sea and on shore. The Guidelines provide information on the causes and consequences of fatigue and linked risks. They are divided into different applicable modules and include supportive measures and tools on the management and thus on the prevention and reduction of fatigue in ship operations. Circular 01-2019 and "Guidelines on Fatigue" are attached below for further information.
