US offshore player Chouest Group has completed the acquisition of the Alliance business from compatriot Helix Energy Solutions, folding the unit into its recently formed Champagne Energy Solutions (CES). The move expands Chouest’s footprint in offshore decommissioning and plug and abandonment (P&A), building out a platform aimed at late-life asset management across the offshore energy sector. Alliance is expected to strengthen CES’s offering in areas such as subsea intervention and well services, complementing existing capabilities in marine logistics and infrastructure removal. Dino Chouest, executive vice president of the group, described the deal as a strategic step in scaling up. “Alliance is a strong strategic fit and an important step in building a scalable, integrated platform in the decommissioning and P&A market,” he said. The acquisition builds on the launch of CES earlier this year, when Chouest made its first move into the decommissioning segment through the purchase of a dedicated platform to target P&A and late-life offshore work. That deal marked a shift for the group, traditionally known for its large offshore vessel fleet, toward a more integrated services model. Meanwhile for Helix, the divestment comes as it reshapes its own portfolio. The company has been active in repositioning its business, including its role in a recently announced merger with Hornbeck Offshore Services, a deal that is set to create a deepwater services heavyweight combining vessels, subsea assets and well intervention capabilities. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsUnited States
