South Korean shipping and logistics company Hyundai Glovis will establish its first European vehicle logistics hub at the Port of Amsterdam, following an agreement signed on May 28 between Port of Amsterdam, Hyundai Glovis and Koopman Logistics Group. Operations at the new facility are scheduled to commence on January 1, 2027, with Hyundai Glovis taking approximately 47 hectares of land into use. The Amsterdam hub will consolidate Hyundai Glovis’s European vehicle import, export and distribution flows, bringing together cargo currently dispersed across multiple European ports into a single location before onward distribution to European markets. The consolidation is expected to generate a significant increase in vessel calls at the Amsterdam car terminal and more intensive use of both nautical infrastructure and hinterland rail connections. Terminal logistics operations will be managed by Koopman Logistics Group. Koen Overtoom, CEO of Port of Amsterdam, described the agreement as consistent with the port’s vision of building a connected, clean and internationally competitive facility, framing Hyundai Glovis as precisely the type of global partner aligned with that ambition.
