Joint ventures between Polenergia and Equinor, in charge of developing the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 offshore wind farms, have signed deals to charter crew transport vessels worth €57m ($61.6m). The two joint ventures, MFW Baltyk II and MFW Baltyk III, signed contracts with Northern Offshore Services and Njord Offshore, each signing two agreements for two vessels. The names of the vessels were not disclosed. The vessels will work under a three-year contract and support both the construction phase of the wind farms and offshore transformer stations as well as their initial operation period including the start-up stage. The Baltyk 2 developer gave out contracts worth €13.5m with a planned start in the second quarter of 2026, while the agreements for Baltyk 3 were finalised as a three-year option. The option can be exercised until September 1, 2026, with work under the €13.8m option set to start in the third quarter of 2027. Deals with both JVs have extension options. The extension options for the four vessels worth €30m in total, if exercised, will keep them busy for another three years. Bałtyk 2 and 3 are separate projects with a planned installed capacity of 720MW each – jointly 1,440MW. The offshore wind farms will be installed in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea and are subject to the Polish regulatory regime.
