Image Credit: Anemoi Anemoi Marine Technologies said the bulk carrier Afros has completed a second intermediate survey with no structural or operational issues found on its four rotor sails after more than eight years in operation. The survey was carried out by Lloyd's Register at Jiangsu Watts Energy & Engineering in April , the company said in an email statement on Wednesday . The rotor sails were installed in 2018 on the 64,000 DWT ultramax vessel owned by Blue Planet Shipping . According to Anemoi, the system has delivered 1,340 mt of bunker fuel savings and reduced about 4,980 mt of well-to-wake CO2 emissions across 154 voyages while maintaining more than 95% operational availability. The company said the results provide independently verified evidence of the long-term durability of wind-assisted propulsion systems in commercial shipping.
