Ukraine’s latest wave of drone strikes has hit one of Russia’s key Black Sea energy hubs, with two tankers and parts of the Rosneft-operated Tuapse oil terminal suffering damage over the weekend. Regional authorities in Krasnodar Krai confirmed that two merchant ships — both foreign-flagged — were damaged in the attack, which set off large fires at berths 1A and 1B of the deepwater terminal. Ambrey, a UK-based maritime security consultancy, said satellite imagery and footage showed at least two tankers on fire at the port. The Tuapse facility, one of Russia’s main crude export outlets on the Black Sea, has been a repeated target of Ukrainian drones this year. The refinery and terminal complex has a processing capacity of 240,000 barrels per day.The Regional Operational Headquarters said there were no casualties and that all fires were extinguished by Sunday morning, though the terminal’s infrastructure had sustained significant damage. Kyiv’s security service claimed responsibility for the strike, saying it had recorded five drone hits on the terminal, damaging loading facilities. The strike on Tuapse underscores Kyiv’s continued focus on crippling Russia’s energy export infrastructure — a campaign that has intensified in recent months as Ukraine seeks to erode Moscow’s wartime revenues. Tuapse has come under repeated attacks in recent weeks, but this weekend’s strike was the most devastating to date. Another drone attack early this morning targeted an oil refinery in the city of Saratov, some 900 km to the east of Ukraine. With around 20% of Russia’s national refinery capacity knocked out by drones in recent months, authorities have started urgently building metal cages around oil facilities to protect them from future attacks. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsRussia Ukraine
