Norway’s Hunter Group has set its sights on the burgeoning offshore wind sector. The Oslo-listed investment firm, which late last year returned to the tanker business, said Thursday it had secured a NOK100m ($9,4m) grant from Norwegian government enterprise Enova for the potential construction of two next-generation commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). The potential project has been developed by Hunter Maritime Advisors. “If and when market conditions become favourable, the CSOV project will be developed on a standalone basis, completely separate from the company’s current tanker chartering business,” the company said. Hunter added that the ships would be equipped with cutting-edge technology, ensuring that they could be efficiently operated with virtually zero emissions.
