Recognising the unique challenges faced by those working at sea, Steamship Mutual has an established partnership with MHSS. This partnership provides seafarers on Members’ entered vessels with free, 24/7 access to confidential, multilingual, professional psychological support, delivered by qualified psychologists with maritime experience.  The 24/7 helpline, allows seafarers to speak directly to a psychologist at any time, whether they are on board or ashore. Support is immediate and designed to stabilise individuals during periods of acute stress, while also providing ongoing assistance where needed.  Helping seafarers maintain mental well-being Tailored Support for Seafarers MHSS support can help seafarers to: Talk through fears and anxieties in a safe, non‑judgmental environment Develop practical coping strategies to manage stress and uncertainty Address sleep problems, low mood or feelings of overwhelm Maintain psychological resilience during extended periods away from home Access follow up support if stressors persist over time Members are encouraged to ensure their crews are fully aware of the benefits the MHSS service can provide their crews, particularly during these uncertain times.
