US-listed Genco Shipping & Trading has continued its fleet renewal push and confirmed earlier broker reports about disposing of two more elderly capesize bulk carriers. The John Wobensmith-led owner of more than 40 dry bulk ships has sold the 2010-built Genco Claudius and 2009-built Genco Maximus for delivery to unnamed buyers in February and March, respectively. Genco recently acquired and took delivery of two 2016-built scrubber-fitted capes Genco Reliance and Genco Ranger splashing out around $86m while offloading the 2009-built Genco Commodus, which has already been delivered to its new owners. The three capes were sold for $56m in total and the disposal should also bring in about $10m of drydocking savings in 2024. Genco logged a net income of $4.9m for the final quarter of 2023 and declared a $0.41 per share dividend.
