JP Morgan’s shipping arm is being linked to another newbuilding deal in South Korea, this time in the very large gas carrier segment. Samsung Heavy Industries this week disclosed a contract for two VLGCs worth about $226m, with deliveries running through May 2029 for an undisclosed Bermuda-based owner. Shipbrokers say the order points to Global Meridian Holdings, the Bermuda-based JP Morgan affiliate that manages the bank’s shipping investments. The deal for the vessels designed to carry both LPG and ammonia adds to a busy year for the group at Samsung Heavy. Earlier orders tied to JP Morgan-linked entities include three suezmax tankers valued at roughly $268m and two LNG carriers worth about $504m. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsUnited States
