As reported by local media, the Mongolia-flagged AZRA C had been anchored in the Sea of Marmara since August 2025 after suffering technical failures. Its situation deteriorated in January when Turkish authorities detained five individuals, including the vessel’s owner, as part of an investigation connected to the seizure of 10 tonnes of cocaine aboard the cargo ship UNITED S near the Canary Islands earlier that month.
