Rhenus and Schwalbe have extended their logistics partnership for another five years, expanding the scope of operations at the Rhenus logistics centre in Wesel, Germany. Under the renewed agreement, the facility will handle Schwalbe’s entire after-sales goods volume for the first time, including both carton-packaged products and bale goods. Rhenus said the contract extension was supported by the site’s sustainability credentials, including short transport routes to and from Rotterdam, the use of electric trucks, geothermal energy, and photovoltaic systems. To support the expanded operations, the company has reconfigured its warehouse by installing a new racking system and upgrading fire protection technology to meet the requirements for storing Schwalbe products. “We are delighted to further expand our collaboration with Schwalbe at our modern logistics centre in Wesel and that we have been able to convince our customer in the long term through our customised service concept and the short, efficient transport routes,” said Andreas Mayer, Member of the Management Board of Rhenus Warehousing Solutions.
