Image Credit: Bound4blue Wind propulsion technology firm Bound4blue and LNG consultancy specialist Cryosafe Services have signed a partnership agreement to collaborate on eSAIL wind propulsion integration for LNG carriers. They will assess eSAIL installation options for LNG carriers, including factors such as air draft, cargo operations, gangway access and mooring arrangements, Bound4blue said in an email statement on Thursday . The evaluations will also focus on ensuring compliance with LNG terminals and floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs). Wind-assisted propulsion is increasingly being explored by shipowners as a practical way to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. The company added that its DNV type-approved eSAIL system can help reduce bunker fuel consumption and emissions while supporting compliance with regulations including EU ETS , CII and FuelEU Maritime . Recent eSAIL installations have also been completed for shipping companies Odfjell , Eastern Pacific Shipping and Maersk Tankers .
