AUTORIDAD DEL CANAL DE PANAMÁ EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENCY FOR OPERATIONS 3654-A (OPXI) v. 3-2-2011 ADVISORIES ARE AVAILABLE AT http://www.pancanal.com FOR ETAS OR DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH OUR OFFICES, REFER TO NOTICE N-3-2014 ADVISORY TO SHIPPING No. A-16-2014 August 6, 2014 TO : All Shipping Agents, Owners, and Operators SUBJECT: Assignment of Additional Resources to Vessels with Special Configurations In a continued effort to provide safe and efficient transits for our customers, the Panama Canal Authority routinely reviews its transit procedures. Based on recent evaluations of lockage procedures, it has been determined that due to the special configuration of some vessels, and in order to avoid accidents during lockage operations, supplementary personnel will be assigned to vessels with mooring stations on different decks; vessels with mooring stations areas that, due to their configuration, present difficulties for line handling operations; or vessels with any other deficiency that may affect transit operations. Even though some of these vessels may have transited in the past without these additional resources, it has become necessary to implement this change to ensure a safe transit. Please be advised that charges incurred for the above-mentioned additional resources will be charged to the vessel. ORIGINAL SIGNED Esteban G. Saenz Executive Vice President for Operations
