Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments to Conakry, Guinea, and Freetown, Sierra Leone, from multiple global regions. For Conakry, the carrier will apply a PSS of US$2,250 (€2,000) per TEU on reefer containers. The surcharge will take effect on 15 July 2026 for cargo originating from Africa, Asia and Oceania, Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, and from 1 August 2026 for shipments from the Americas. Existing PSS levels for non-reefer containers to Conakry will remain unchanged. For Freetown, Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a PSS of US$550 (€500) per TEU for all equipment types. The surcharge will also take effect on 15 July 2026 for cargo from Africa, Asia and Oceania, Europe, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent, and from 1 August 2026 for shipments from the Americas. The carrier said the new surcharge for Freetown replaces any previously applicable Peak Season Surcharge.
