The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral maritime and port cooperation, signed on the sidelines of the 12th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders’ Programme held from September 28 to October 2, 2026. The MOU was signed by Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive of MPA, and Captain (Ret.) Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of MPABD. Under the agreement, the two authorities will strengthen collaboration and exchanges across digitalisation, maritime safety, port State control inspection, incident investigation, training and other areas of mutual interest, with the shared aim of promoting safe, clean and efficient shipping. Ang Wee Keong described the MOU as underscoring the special friendship and strong partnership between the two authorities built over the years, and as a further strengthening of bilateral maritime cooperation and the close ties between Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. Captain Zil Husam expressed anticipation of expanded opportunities for officers to exchange knowledge, share experiences and collaborate in practical areas of maritime and port cooperation, as well as explore meaningful initiatives to support the further development of both maritime sectors.
