Aluminum Drops to 1-Month Low in Commodity News 10/06/2026 Aluminum futures in the UK dropped as much as 1.4% toward $3,500 per tonne in Asian trading, the lowest in a month, as fresh US strikes against Iran and prospects of higher US interest rates weighed on the demand outlook. Persistent geopolitical tensions have fueled inflation concerns and increased the likelihood of tighter monetary policy, raising fears of slower global growth and weaker demand for industrial metals. Still, prices remain more than 19% higher year-to-date amid tightening supply conditions as aluminum exports from the Persian Gulf remain constrained. Supply risks have been further exacerbated by direct attacks on major refining facilities in the region. EGA’s flagship smelter is expected to take up to a year to return to full capacity, while operations at Bahrain’s ALBA facility remain partially suspended.
