The Port of Huelva handled more than 14.4 million tonnes of cargo during the first six months of 2026, a slight 0.4% decrease compared with the same period last year. Liquid bulk remained the port’s main cargo segment. Volumes increased by 2.15% to 10.8 million tonnes, accounting for almost 75% of total traffic. The growth was driven by higher fuel volumes. By contrast, dry bulk traffic fell 7.6% to 2.5 million tonnes, reflecting the impact of ongoing geopolitical uncertainty on global trade. General cargo also declined. The port handled more than 885,200 tonnes, down 8.2% year-on-year. Container traffic reached more than 60,400 TEUs during the first half of the year. The port also handled more than 14,400 intermodal transport units (ITUs) of roll-on/roll-off cargo. Vehicle traffic recorded the strongest growth. The port handled more than 26,500 vehicles, an increase of 74% compared with the first half of 2025. According to the Port of Huelva, investments in new infrastructure for general cargo and liquid bulk are expected to strengthen the port’s competitiveness and support future traffic growth.
