Indian tankers able to cross Strait of Hormuz safely- report in International Shipping News 17/03/2026 Two Indian-flagged tankers carrying LPG have successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz and are expected to reach India, according to Wall Street Journal. The Shivalik is scheduled to arrive at the Indian coast on Monday, while the Nanda Devi will dock early Tuesday, said Rajesh Kumar Sinha. Both vessels crossed the strait early on Saturday. The tankers completed the passage without escort from Indian Navy ships, the report added. The crossing comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke by phone last week for the first time since the war began. India also helped repatriate more than 140 Iranian nationals on a charter flight arranged by Iran. The group included mostly non-essential crew from the Iranian ship IRIS Lavan, some tourists and a handful of diplomats.
