Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and state-run energy firm PetroVietnam have teamed up to accelerate the energy transition in Vietnam. Under a memorandum of understanding, the duo will work together on renewable energy including offshore wind and commit to exchanging knowledge on the energy transition from fossil-based to renewable energy production and consumption. The collaboration covers technology, supply chain, logistics and infrastructure development. This will include support of training programs in new renewable energy technologies such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, battery storage, energy islands, and beyond. Furthermore, the two companies said they would explore opportunities to collaborate on developing specific offshore wind projects in Vietnam. Robert Helms, partner at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, commented: “We consider the MoU another important milestone for our presence in Vietnam. CIP is a pioneer in offshore wind, and we look forward to sharing our knowledge, know-how and technological innovations to deliver Vietnam’s first offshore wind projects in a close collaboration of the parties and drive forward the green transition in the country.” The tie-up also involves Copenhagen Offshore Partners, CIP’s exclusive offshore wind development partner.
