Information on local penalties element for stowaways arriving in Ghanaian ports.Correspondent Africa Marine Services (Europe) Limited brings us the updates below.The latest situation is that there are now two penalties being applied by two separate authorities:Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority charge of USD 5000.00 per head (See GPHA Fines 2025 Miscellaneous Offences Section 10 - Item 10.12)Ghana Immigration Authority Fine which is USD 5000.00 per head but is normally negotiable (Immigration Documents attached - see Item 10 – Fees & Charges plus Section 43 - Carrier Liability)In theory, the situation in Ghana would mean that vessels arriving at Ghanaian ports with stowaways on board could incur a total of USD 10,000.00, per stowaway, in fines.
