Greek bulker player DryDel Shipping is being linked to its first sale this year in a deal for a five-year-old ultramax. The Costas Dellaportas-led company is widely reported by brokers to be obtaining around $36m from the sale of the 2018-built scrubber-fitted Velvet. The buyer has yet to be revealed, with some sources suggesting Korean interests. DryDel, formerly Meadway Shipping and Trading, bought the 62,600 dwt Oshima-built unit as Nord Baltic from Denmark’s Norden some two years ago for a reported $36.8m. The company officially launched under a new brand in February and lists 11 bulkers, including the Velvet, in its fleet, in addition to 18 chartered-in ships and 10 newbuilds set for delivery between 2024 and 2026. One of the 40,000 dwt newbuilds, the Warrior, had recently been delivered by Namura, the first in a series of four DryDel has under construction at the Japanese yard.
