Buyers keen on bulkers from dry bulk powerhouse Oldendorff’s fleet have to surrender to high prices, as the German mammoth tests the market, selling one ship after another. Over the weekend, a third modern Japanese-built ultramax and two one-year-old Chinese-built kamsarmaxes were reported sold by brokers, all at prices significantly higher than last done. Last week, Splash reported that two Japanese-built, 60,900 dwt scrubber-fitted ultramaxes, Alwine Oldendorff and August Oldendorff (built 2014, 2015), had been sold to undisclosed Asian buyers for $61m. Now, a another Japanese-built ship, the 10-year-old, 63,000 dwt Beate Oldendorff, was sold for just over $38m. Sales talk also surrounds two one-year-old kamsarmaxes, the 82,000 dwt Klarissa Oldendorff and Kamilla Oldendorff with brokers suggesting they have been sold for $40m each.
