MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 4 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 04/06/2026 The DCE iron ore futures trended weaker today. The most-traded contract I2609 closed at 767 yuan/mt, down 1.85% from the previous trading session. Port spot prices fell 6-11 yuan/mt from the previous day. Traders showed limited enthusiasm in offering; steel mills made few inquiries; overall spot market transactions were mediocre as of now. Fundamentals, the short-term rise in hot metal should have supported demand; however, in terms of industry chain profit distribution, the strength in coking coal forced a coke price hike, and steel mills generally showed limited acceptance of ore prices amid weak steel prices and rising raw material costs, puƫng ore prices under pressure. Macro perspective, the pullback in crude oil prices weakened short-term cost support for ore prices. Therefore, considering all factors, iron ore prices are likely to exhibit a weaker trend in the short term.
