MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 9 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 09/06/2026 The DCE iron ore futures moved weakly today. The most-traded contract, I2609, closed at 760 yuan/mt, down 0.20% from the previous tradingday. Port spot prices remained largely unchanged from the prior day. Most traders followed market trends with moderate activity; steel mills maintained a strong wait-and-see stance with limited inquiries. As of now, spot transaction volumes were low. Looking ahead, iron ore demand is expected to edge up in the short term. According to an SMM survey, the impact of this week’s blast furnace maintenance on hot metal production was 1.1058 million mt, down 240,100 mt WoW, while the impact next week is estimated to decrease by 6,800 mt WoW from this week. The short-term increase in pig iron producion may provide support for iron ore prices and drive a price recovery. However, against the backdrop of the steel off-season, iron ore inventories also began to rise, and the overall upside room for iron ore remains strongly capped. Consequently, ore prices are likely to continue hovering at lows after a brief recovery in the near term. Download PDF Source: Metals Market Index (MMI) 2026-06-09 hellenicshippingnews... tweet Share
