Swiss-based offshore drilling giant Transocean has decided to sell five of its stacked rigs. Transocean said it would be selling the rigs to third parties for either recycling or alternative use. The company will also sell certain assets primarily associated with these rigs. The rigs in question are the 2009-built Discoverer Clear Leader and Discoverer Americas, the 2011-built Deepwater Champion, and the 2010-built Discoverer India drillships. The rigs have been stacked for years. They have been stacked since June 2019, April 2016, February 2016, and July 2020, respectively. The fifth rig on the chopping block is the 1985-built Henry Goodrich. It has been stacked since March 2020.
