Swiss-based offshore drilling giant Transocean has secured new deals for two of its harsh-environment semisubmersibles in Norway. The offshore driller said that the 2015-built Transocean Encourage was awarded a seven-well contract extension. The rig is currently working for an undisclosed operator in Norway. The contract is supposed to end in January 2027 on a $455,000 dayrate. This new extension is set to last 365 days and will begin in the first quarter of 2027 in direct continuation of the rig’s current program. The extension will contribute approximately $152m in backlog, excluding additional services. Two one-well options have been exercised for the Transocean Enabler in direct continuation of the rig’s current activity. The incremental 70 days of work are expected to contribute approximately $32m in backlog, excluding additional services, and commit the rig through December 2027. The semisub is currently working for Norwegian giant Equinor on a dayrate of $455,000. In aggregate, the fixtures represent approximately $184m in firm contract backlog. This comes only days after the Switzerland-based company signed a definitive agreement to acquire US-listed Valaris in an all-stock transaction valued at about $5.8bn. On a fully diluted basis, Transocean shareholders will own roughly 53% of the combined group, with Valaris investors owning the 47%. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsNorway
