Offshore drilling giant Transocean has won new deals for three of its harsh environment semisubs worth around $161m in firm contract backlog. In Norway, the 2009-built Transocean Spitsbergen was awarded a three-well contract extension with Equinor. The program is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025 in direct continuation of the rig’s current program and contribute approximately $72m in backlog, excluding additional services. The extension also includes options for up to six additional wells. The rig has been working for Equinor since November 2023. The 2019-built Transocean Norge was awarded a three-well contract extension with Wintershall Dea. The estimated 140-day program will start in the first quarter of 2028 in direct continuation of the rig’s current program. The extension is worth around $71m in backlog, excluding additional services. The rig was initially hired by Wintershall Dea and OMV in 2022 to start a 17-well program offshore Norway. The final deal was a second option exercised by Woodside for the Transocean Endurance in Australia. The estimated 45-day well is expected to begin in direct continuation of the rig’s current deal and contribute some $18m in backlog.
