Oslo-listed offshore wind service pure play Edda Wind has sold its Edda Passat service operation vessel (SOV) to an undisclosed buyer. Edda Wind conducted the sale through its subsidiary West Energy via a sale and purchase agreement regarding the sale of all outstanding shares in Puerto de Calella S.L., the registered owner of the vessel. According to the company, the transaction is expected to take place in mid-March 2024. The proceeds from the sale will be used for general corporate purposes, including the repayment of outstanding debt related to the SOV. When providing the rationale for the sale of the vessel, Edda Wind said that it was optimising its fleet strategy, including alignment of vessel design. Haugesund-headquartered company, backed by Wilhelmsen, Østensjø, John Fredriksen and Idan Ofer, has eight dedicated offshore wind vessels under construction – one SOV and seven CSOVs. All newbuild vessels are prepared for zero-emission utilising liquid organic hydrogen carrier and/or methanol as an energy source. The most recent deal Edda Wind won for the vessel was a charter deal with turbine maker Vestas.
