MSC has announced new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates for shipments from the Far East to North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The rates will apply from 15 August 2026 until further notice. However, their validity will not extend beyond 31 August 2026. The announcement covers cargo from all Far East ports, including ports in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. Destinations include North Europe, the West and East Mediterranean, the Adriatic, North Africa and the Black Sea. All rates are quoted in US dollars. Shipments involving out-ports will remain subject to the usual TAO and TAD charges. The announced rates include the ocean freight rate and a Global Fuel Surcharge of US$271 per TEU for August 2026. They also include an Emission Control Area surcharge of US$15 per TEU for Mediterranean shipments and cargo moving to Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France. A higher Emission Control Area surcharge of US$52 per TEU will apply to other Nordic and Baltic countries. The rates remain subject to a Carbon Limitation Surcharge of US$20 per TEU. A Carbon Review Surcharge of US$81 per TEU will apply to North Europe, while Mediterranean shipments will face a charge of US$120 per TEU.
