Lloyd’s Register (LR) has partnered with ArcelorMittal to develop a Global Operating Model for the company’s dry bulk terminals, aiming to standardize operations across its international port portfolio. The model will establish a common operating framework for ArcelorMittal Global Ports. It will support terminals operating in different regions, regulatory environments and operating conditions. LR said the framework will improve safety, reliability, governance, ESG performance and operational consistency. It will also strengthen portfolio-wide visibility and support future digitalisation initiatives. The operating model will include a standardized operations manual, a library of standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklist-based controls and self-audit tools. These measures will focus on shift execution, compliance monitoring and continuous improvement. The framework will also integrate environmental and sustainability practices. These include biodiversity protection, emissions management, resource efficiency, waste management and governance requirements. The new model will enable common KPIs, consistent reporting, cross-terminal benchmarking and structured performance improvement across ArcelorMittal’s global terminal network. “Our focus is on creating an operating system that is practical, verifiable and scalable,” said Daniel Campos, Global Lead of Ports Advisory at Lloyd’s Register. “The model is designed to give ArcelorMittal a repeatable way of running high-standard terminal operations across its global network.” Deepak Sachdeva, Head of Global Ports at ArcelorMittal, said the initiative will improve safety, governance and transparency while embedding ESG requirements into everyday operations across the company’s terminals.
