A me rican Club Circular No. 3 1 /1 5 1 JULY 2, 2015 CIRCULAR NO. 31/15 TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION Dear Member: MANAGEMENT NEWS Your Managers are pleased to announce the following appointments within its global service team. Dorothea Ioannou, Managing Director of SCB (Hellas), Inc., has recently assumed the role of Global Business Development Director. Her chief focus will be to coordinate business development efforts across all regions of the world, fostering current relationships and generating new initiatives for the American Club and its Eagle Ocean Marine (EOM) fixed premium facility. Dorothea is well known to the Club’s Members in Europe and elsewhere. A graduate of Saint John’s University School of Law, and a member of the New York State Bar, Dorothea had several years’ experience in the insurance broking sector before joining SCB (Hellas) when it opened in 2005. She is Vice President of WISTA, Hellas and speaks frequently at industry conferences and other events. She will maintain her position as Managing Director of the Piraeus office from where she will also fulfil her new duties. In light of Dorothea’s additional responsibilities, Joanna Koukouli has been promoted to Claims Manager for the Piraeus office. Joanna obtained her first degree in law from the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki before gaining an LLM in maritime law from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom. After practicing as a solicitor in England, she trained with a New York maritime law firm, subsequently returning to Greece as legal counsel for a major shipowner prior to joining the Piraeus office. A member of the New York State Bar, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Piraeus Bar Association, Joanna has responsibility for the management of claims within the Piraeus office. In conjunction with this, Marivi Banou has been appointed as Deputy Claims Manager in Piraeus. Marivi joined SCB (Hellas) in 2005, having previously worked in both insurance broking and ship management. She holds a degree in shipping and transport from BCA College in Athens, in association with the Metropolitan University of London. Marivi assists in the general day-to-day management of the Piraeus claims team in its handling of a wide range of P&I and Defense matters. A merican Club Circular No. 3 1 /1 5 2 Your Managers are also pleased to report the recent recruitment to the Piraeus office of Maria Mavroudi as Business Development and Claims Executive. Maria joins us from another major International Group club and related service provider. She will assist Dorothea Ioannou in business development as well as providing support on the claims front. A graduate of the University of Piraeus and the Cass Business School of the City University in London, Maria is an associate member of the Association of Average Adjusters with broad knowledge of the marine insurance sphere at large. She brings a rich skills set to the Club, including experience in marketing and public relations earlier in her career. In London, Gustavo Gomez has been promoted to Claims Liaison Manager in regard both to American Club business and to that involving its EOM fixed premium facility. A well-known figure in the local community, Gus has worked in the Managers’ London office for several years. Having qualified as a lawyer in his native Mexico, Gus worked in P&I correspondency before becoming regional director for a local maritime law firm. He holds a Master’s Degree in law from the University of
