HAROPA PORT Le Havre is supporting logistics operations for the Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farm, with Osaka Quay serving as a transfer and load-out base for monopile foundations since June 2026. The campaign is part of the construction of the offshore wind farm off the Normandy coast and involves the transfer of monopile foundations from heavy-lift transport vessels to an installation vessel before offshore deployment. The monopiles are transported from Vlissingen, Netherlands, aboard the heavy-lift vessels Yamatai and CY Interocean I. At Le Havre, each foundation is transferred individually to the crane vessel Seaway Strashnov, which then transports and installs the structures at the offshore site. The project requires close coordination between the Le Havre Harbour Master’s Office, pilots, tug operators and mooring teams. Given the size of the 183-metre-long installation vessel, enhanced safety measures have been implemented, including mandatory tug assistance and ship-to-ship transfer procedures during loading operations. The installation campaign is scheduled to continue until October 2026. A total of 17 monopile foundations will be installed during the current phase, with 10 already in place by the end of July. Once completed, the Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farm will comprise 64 offshore wind turbines and generate enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 600,000 people, equivalent to the population of France’s Calvados department.
