Alternative means of position fixing when approaching ports in Israel Loss Prevention Steamship Mutual Published: November 15, 2023 Contact author Download article pdf Club’s members are advised that there have been reports of the potential for failure of GPS Satellite signal whilst operating in, or close to Israeli territorial waters.  Members are advised that, prior to operating in, or in the  vicinity of, Israeli territorial waters to review and implement appropriate mitigating measures to ensure safety of navigation  in an event of possible failure or loss of GPS Satellite signal reception. The masters and watchkeepers should be thoroughly familiar with alternative means of plotting and monitoring their vessel’s position, keeping in mind the potential limitations of their vessel’s navigational equipment. The Master should consult the local agent, CSO and/or DPA for the latest updates, reporting requirements and any specific navigational guidance that should be followed for the port(s) where the vessel is intended to call.
