Global container ship ordering activity continued during the latest reporting period, with shipowners placing orders for vessels ranging from 1,600 TEU feeder ships to 13,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships, according to DynaLiners. Yang Ming selected Hanwha Ocean to build six LNG dual-fuel 13,000 TEU containerships. The contract is valued between US$185 million and US$204 million per vessel. Delivery dates and construction slots will be confirmed later. Eastern Pacific Shipping expanded its orderbook with seven additional 6,000 TEU conventionally fuelled containerships at Hengli Heavy Industry. The latest order increases the series to 15 vessels. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, with the remaining ships following in 2028. Shanghai Changshun Shipping exercised options for four more 6,100 TEU containerships at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding. The conventionally fuelled vessels are reportedly valued at around US$70 million each and are expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2029. Greek owner Erasmus Shipinvest placed an order with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for two 1,900 TEU containerships, with options for two additional vessels. The ships are expected to be delivered in early 2029. Iran-based operator Kamal & Adel contracted Chizhou Tianyu Shipbuilding to build a 1,700 TEU containership. Delivery is scheduled for 2028. Meanwhile, Zhejiang Runyang Shipping signed a contract with Jiangxi Xinxiangsheng Shipbuilding for one firm and one optional 1,600 TEU containership. The order marks the shipyard’s first contract for an ocean-going containership. Outside the container segment, Bahri ordered two LNG/dual-fuel ConRo vessels, with options for two additional units, at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard.
