Jumbo Offshore Installation Contractors, part of the Dutch Jumbo Group, has been awarded a contract by floater expert Modec for the pre-installation of the mooring spread of the FPSO Errea Wittu offshore Guyana. Modec was authorised to proceed with the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) scope for the FPSO in May 2023, following a final investment decision on the Uaru project by ExxonMobil Guyana and its co-venturers. The FPSO mooring system will be supplied by Sofec and consists of a total of 19 mooring legs. Jumbo Offshore will be using its Damen 2008-built leavylift construction vessel Fairplayer for the job. The Uaru field is part of ExxonMobil’s Starbroek project with a targeted start-up in 2026. The $12.7bn project will involve several industry majors including Modec, TechnipFMC, Saipem and Aker Solutions. The FPSO will have the capacity to store 2m barrels of oil.
