Nasdaq-listed Greek owner Capital Clean Energy Carriers (CCEC) is bringing in a trading partner on one of its latest LNG carriers, while securing long-term employment for the ship in the process. The Athens-based company has agreed to sell a 49% stake in the 2023-built Amore Mio I to an affiliate of Dubai-based BGN Group, forming a joint venture that will take ownership of the vessel in early 2027. Under the structure, CCEC will retain control with a 51% holding, while the BGN-linked partner takes the remaining share. The ship will be acquired by the joint venture at a value of $230m, with financing expected to be refinanced at closing. The partners have also lined up a 10-year time charter to BGN, with options that could stretch employment out to 2043. The deal is expected to generate up to $485.6m in revenues if all extensions are exercised. For CCEC, the move ticks several boxes. It brings in external capital, locks in long-term earnings visibility and adds another blue-chip counterparty to its charter book. Chief executive Jerry Kalogiratos said the deal shows the company’s ability to attract co-investment while underlining continued demand for modern LNG tonnage on long-term contracts. The structure also gives the owner more balance sheet flexibility at a time when it is expanding its fleet. CCEC currently has a sizeable orderbook of new LNG and gas carriers, with deliveries running through to 2029. For BGN, the deal marks a first step into LNG shipping. The trader has signalled plans to build up its fleet, targeting two LNG carriers by 2027 and a broader push into LPG shipping by 2028.
