The emergency fuel surcharge will take effect on March 16 and remain in place until further notice. The charges will vary depending on the destination and cargo type. For shipments from the Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Red Sea, MSC will charge $30 per twenty-foot equivalent unit for dry cargo and $50 per twenty-foot equivalent unit for refrigerated cargo. Cargo bound for East Africa from the Mediterranean and Black Sea will incur charges of $60 per twenty-foot equivalent unit for dry containers and $90 per twenty-foot equivalent unit for refrigerated containers.
