With immediate effect, we are now able to offer coverage for single ‘breach’ voyages.  Download PDF In 2023, West launched its proposition for War insurance – called ‘West War’. We entered the market with $250m of capacity and provided a new diversified policy as part of our growing suite of products. Throughout the ensuing period, the West War facility has been open to annual policy enquiries from all shipowners and other operators. From January 2025, we are pleased to announce a key change to the West War facility. With immediate effect, we are now able to offer coverage for single ‘breach’ voyages. This is intended for ships transiting high risk areas such as the Gulf of Aden. This particular enhancement will be available exclusively to Members (including customers who are not Members, but who are buying other products from West of England). Shipowners who are not currently clients of West will continue to be able to approach us for annual war coverage enquiries. We will be happy to offer breach call insurance for non-West customers where an annual policy is purchased.
