Global Energy Group has been selected by Oslo-listed offshore engineering and services player Subsea 7 to support the East Kameleon project, an Aker BP North Sea field development. Under the contract, which adds to the growing number of fabrication projects secured by GEG in recent months, the Inverness-based firm will build subsea spools and anode sled structure for the project at the Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, Scotland. “We are pleased to partner with Subsea7 to produce vital subsea components and sustaining the Port of Nigg’s influential role in supporting the offshore energy industry.,” said Dave MacKay, general manager of Global Energy Group Fabrication. GEG has recently been focused on offshore wind and has invested over £120m in the redevelopment and expansion of its infrastructure sites, resulting in deployment of over 2.6 GW of assets. The East Kameleon is part of the Alvheim field in the Norwegian North Sea together with Kneler, Boa, Kameleon and Kameleon structures. In June 2022, Aker Solutions and Subsea 7 secured contracts from Aker BP for the Trell & Trine field development, located in the Alvheim area.
