India’s Apeejay Shipping has emerged as the taker of a ship sold by China’s Rewood Ocean Shipping Co (ROSCO), tabling an undisclosed amount for the 2005-built ROSCO Ginkgo, a Japanese-built, 75,000 dwt bulker. This marks Apeejay’s second purchase since May. Four months ago it added a three-year-old kamsarmax named ASL Uranus. While the eight-ship-strong Indian bulker firm has stayed away from the sales and purchase arena for years, the Beijing seller of the ship, ROSCO, is busy lightening its fleet. Brokers noted last month ROSCO sold another Japanese-built bulker, the 2008-built, 82,300 dwt ROSCO Poplar, for close to $18m. ROSCO is listed with six Japanese-built ships according to VesselsValue.
