File Image / Pixabay Japan 's domestic shipping firm Kinkai Yusen , a unit of NYK Group , is set to conduct a biofuel demonstration voyage on its RORO vessel Nanotsu . The vessel will bunker B24 biofuel at Hakata Port on June 16 before operating on its regular service between Hakata and Tsuruga , the firm said in a statement on its website on Tuesday . The fuel will contain 24% biofuel blended with conventional marine fuel. Kinkai Yusen said the initiative is expected to be the first case of a domestic scheduled RORO vessel bunkering biofuel and operating from Hakata Port. The biofuel will be supplied with the cooperation of Japanese energy company Idemitsu Kosan , an energy company, and energy trading and distribution firm Itochu Enex . Marine biofuels as a drop-in fuel can be used in existing ships without requiring any modifications.
