File Image / Pixabay A Tanzania -registered container ship, Golden Star 1 , sank about six km off Batam on June 5 after reportedly taking on water. All nine crew members were safely rescued by Indonesian authorities, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement on its website on Friday . MPA has issued navigational broadcasts advising vessels to exercise caution when transiting the area and to report any containers adrift. The authority said vessel traffic in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore remains unaffected, and there have been no reports of oil pollution in Singapore waters. MPA said it has informed Indonesian authorities and is monitoring the situation.
