MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 24 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 24/06/2026 Today, DCE iron ore futures strengthened in the morning session and dipped slightly in the afternoon today, with the most-traded I2609 contract closing at 744 yuan/mt, up 0.74% from the previous trading session. Port spot prices rose 4–9 yuan/mt from the prior day. Miner activity was moderate, with steel mills primarily purchasing for essential restocking; spot trading volume has been mediocre thus far. On the fundamentals front, according to an SMM survey, the daily average hot metal output of sampled steel mills this week was 2.4607 million mt, down 4,300 mt WoW. Pig iron production has reached an inflection point, and iron ore demand is expected to weaken going forward. On the news front, market rumors of tightening iron ore supply disrupted the near-term bearish sentiment. Taking all factors into account, iron ore prices are likely to move sideways in the short term, while the medium and long-term outlook remains bearish.
