MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 25 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 25/06/2026 Today, DCE iron ore futures weakened, with the most-traded contract I2609 closing at 735 yuan/mt, down 1.08% from the previous trading session. Port spot prices fell 5–7 yuan/mt from the previous day. Traders showed modest willingness to quote, while steel mills had a strong desire to push for lower prices. As of now, spot trading volume was relatively low. Looking ahead, amid the steel off-season, export demand for finished steel continued to weaken, driving pig iron production to a turning point, and iron ore demand is expected to shrink further. Additionally, rumors of environmental protection-driven production restrictions, combined with weakening downstream export data, triggered market pessimism, leaving ore prices more likely to fall than rise. In the short term, iron ore prices may trend sideways in a tug-of-war between longs and shorts, while the medium- and long-term outlook is persistently bearish.
