MMI Daily Iron Ore Index Report June 23 2026 in Chinese iron ore and steelmaking prices 23/06/2026 Today, DCE iron ore futures opened weak in the morning session and saw a modest recovery in the afternoon, with the most-traded I2609 contract closing at 738.5 yuan/mt, down 0.54% from the previous trading session. Port spot prices held steady from the previous day. Traders mostly followed market trends, with moderate quoting enthusiasm. Steel mills made fewer inquiries, and spot trading volume was moderate as of the time of writing. This week, the SMM survey showed the impact from blast furnace maintenance was 1.1633 million mt, up 31,600 mt WoW. Iron ore demand weakened, and hot metal may pull back due to maintenance and environmental protection-driven production restrictions. In addition, expectations for the ninth round of coke price increases fermented. Weak sentiment in coal and coke spilled over to iron ore, coupled with falling oil prices and interest rate hike expectations weighing on overall sentiment in the ferrous metals market. Iron ore prices are expected to remain in the doldrums in the short term. Download PDF Source: Metals Market Index (MMI) 2026-06-23 hellenicshippingnews... tweet Share
